College Admissions and the Applicant Portal: What is it?
  • Hello, and welcome to the admittedly podcast. My name is Thomas Caleel. I'm the former director of MBA admissions and financial aid from my alma mater, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. In this podcast, I don't promise easy answers or quick fixes. But I will use my decades of experience to help you achieve your education goals. Now, let's get started.

And today's question of the week is the applicant portal. What is it? So for those of you who submitted EA ED applications, you should be getting a link from the school to your applicant portal. Your applicant portal is a place for you to see the general status of your application, do not panic. If things say missing for the first week or two because they're trying to pull things together, the systems are checking everything some of these things are coming in your kind of old-school hardcopy or email they have to match them with your file, and then update the system.

So don't pick up the phone and start calling and yelling about a missing letter of recommendation or something. day one, day two, and day three, give the system time to catch up. The applicant portal is also where you can submit an update. If you get a new TOEFL score a new standardized testing score, or there's a major change in different schools will have different rules around what you can and cannot submit through the portal. So just go in, take your time read through that. And that is going to be the primary interface that you have with the university during the time that your application is being considered.

I wish you all the best in the process. Please follow our socials on TikTok and Instagram the admittedly podcast for more updated information. Thank you for joining us today.
